Aunty Marge Close was born in 1931 and grew up at Woodenbong. In her story she speaks about being raised by her grandparents, listening to the old people speak language, bush foods, family life, work, education and the importance of respect.
nIn their own words
nn“I’m a Githabul woman and that’s what I say; that’s what my family was and that’s what I am.”
Her memories move between hardship and humour, while returning again and again to the knowledge carried by family and Elders and to the strength she drew from standing up for herself.
