Uncle Athol Compton

The story text below can now be edited from Pages → this Elder’s page.

Uncle Athol Compton describes himself as a Minyangbal man from Boonigah (Fingal), with family connections across the Yugumbeh and Bundjalung language groups. His story follows songlines, family, language, work, theatre, education and his return home to the Tweed.

In their own words

“It is good to know where you come from, and to where you belong.”

He speaks strongly about cultural integrity, language and knowing where you belong, and about the responsibility to carry that knowledge forward for younger generations.
